Pakistan's oldest and most widely-read English Language newspaper, Dawn, published a major article on 13 August, under the heading "Beyond the walls of hatred", reporting on the Caux Forum for Human Security.
The author, Jawed Naqvi, reports on his visit to Caux as part of a large group of Pakistanis and Indians including Pakistan’s former foreign secretary Humayun Khan, Aziz Ahmed Khan, former Pakistani High Commissioner in India, and former Indian cabinet minister, Mani Shankar Aiyar.
Caux is described as the 'ideal venue for the incorrigibly parochial South Asians' who would 'have an opportunity to accept for a few days, if not for ever, that Kashmir is not the only key issue. They would get a firsthand account of the current state of play in Palestine, Sudan, Jaffna, climate change, the economic challenge and generally about the rising need for a global culture of dialogue and understanding.'
The author writes of how deep rooted prejudices were challenged, and concludes: 'Religious stereotypes preached by hate-mongers are beginning to wane gradually. We have to open our eyes and savour the change'
